Bosnia and Herzegovina is a Southeastern European country located in the western Balkans, bordering the Adriatic Sea, it was formerly one of the states of the former federation of Yugoslavia until it declared its independence in March 1992. BiH is bordered by Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia Bosnia and Herzegovina occupies an area of 51,200 kmē (19,768 sq. mi.), making it somewhat smaller than neighboring Croatia, or slightly smaller than West Virginia.
